TW: mention of domestic violence, gun violence, infants born sleeping, & a general theme of death
Edited to add: My Celebration of Life sessions are available for all ages—including babies born sleeping, infants, children, adults, & elders. Whether the loss is due to natural causes, sudden events, or anything in between, I’m here to hold space for you & your family with care, compassion, and respect. These are absolutely free sessions.
Hi there, lovely people! I have had an idea quietly brewing in my mind for quite some time that I literally have not been able to put into words. After some soul-searching & brainstorming with loved ones, it is finally ready to be.
As many of you know, I’m Gwen – a freelance photographer based in the KC Metro, but am currently splitting my time between there & the Pikes Peak Region of Colorado. I call my little venture Gwenyth Glenn Photography where I focus on creating naturally candid keepsakes. My goal in every session is to make people feel completely at ease — to create a relaxed, comfortable space where true connection can shine through my lens.
Now for a piece of me that I hold close to my heart & do not often talk about.
I grew up in a home where domestic violence was prevalent. Tragically, this violence ended in the loss of my mother, Rochelle Ann, who was taken far too soon by gun violence at the hands of my father. I was only thirteen. As you can imagine, healing from this kind of trauma has been a lifelong journey, one with countless, countless layers. Throughout my life & seemingly in the back of my mind at all times, I have thought -- 'How can I bring this dark piece of my life, make it brighter, & then incorporate it into what I really enjoy doing?'
Today, I am answering that question the best way I know how.
As of today, I would like to begin offering 1-2 absolutely free celebration of life sessions each month. These sessions are meant for individuals — human or pet — who are nearing or beginning their transition from this life onto the next. Whether it’s hospice, old age, or a terminal diagnosis, these sessions are about capturing the love, dignity, & connection that define their legacy.
Grief is never easy. These moments can be emotionally, physically, & financially overwhelming. I want to be a gentle light who helps to create a cherished farewell for you & your family during a time when it’s needed most.
If you or someone you know is walking through this part of life, please, please, please do not hesitate to reach out. It would be an honor to help preserve your memories with care, compassion, and respect.
In loving celebration of my beautiful mom,
Rochelle Ann (April 16, 1971 – June 16, 2011)
With love,
Gwen
